Many men are unhappy with either the current shape or position of their ears. It can cause embarrassment and lower your confidence having to deal with so called ‘jokes’ about protruding ears. We can put an end to that and restore your confidence to where it deserves to be. Typically a local anaesthetic with sedation is required prior to surgery. The surgeon will make a small incision behind the ear and remove excess skin and cartilage. You will need to wear a dressing for a few days and final, healed results will be evident after 6 weeks.
What is an otoplasty?
Otoplasty, or ear pinning / reshaping is a relatively simple procedure. The tissue behind the ears (cartilage) will be removed and your ears will be repositioned so that they sit closer to your head. You may need stitches to achieve your ideal look, but this is usually just until you have completely healed. On some occasions more permanent stitching may be required. The results are immediate, and you should be able to return to work after around 1 week.

Will there be any scarring?
Due to the positioning of the incision, in the fold behind the ear, we would expect any scarring to be minimal and hidden from view. It will also fade over time as with all scarring.
