What is Breast Enlargement Surgery?

Also known as boob job, breast augmentation, and breast enhancement.

Breast enlargement surgery is a procedure during which implants are placed into your natural breasts to make them bigger and enhance their shape and appearance. This procedure has a tremendous satisfaction rate with patients of all ages.

Everyone has their reasons for wanting a breast enlargement. Whether it be because you feel your breasts are uneven, too small, or you feel they don’t suit your body shape – at Enhance, you won’t find any judgement, just a personalised service designed to bring out your inner confidence.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A BOOB JOB?

  • Increase the size of your breasts if you feel they are too small or do not suit your body type and therefore lead to a lack of confidence
  • Restore your breast’s appearance after significant changes to your body after pregnancy or as a result of weight loss

WHAT HAPPENS DURING BREAST ENLARGEMENT SURGERY?

During breast enlargement surgery, a cosmetic surgeon will make an incision in under the breast (inframammary). The surgeon then creates a pocket behind the breast tissue or under the chest muscle, where the implant is inserted.

Like any surgery, there can be potential risks with breast augmentation & our surgeons will thoroughly go through these with you during your consultation. Whilst rare, risks can include infection, changes in sensation, implant rupture and the formation of scar tissue that distorts the shape of the implant (capsular contracture). That’s why, at Enhance Medical, we have a dedicated team of experienced cosmetic surgeons and practitioners.

With over 35 years of experience, we take every measure to avoid risk and provide you with the highest quality of care from the beginning of your journey and throughout your 12-month aftercare period.

Breast Implant Options

  • Implant Type – There are different types of breast implants – silicone implants and saline implants. At Enhance, our preferred supplier of breast implants is ‘MENTOR®’ – high-quality, silicone gel implants.
  • Implant Profile – Different breast implant profiles are available. The implant profile describes the shape of an implant and how far it will project forward, ranging from low-profile breast implants to extra high-profile breast implants. When comparing two breast implants of the same size (using cubic centilitres), the implant that has a narrower base appears to stick out more from the chest and, therefore, has a higher profile as opposed to an implant with a wider base, which remains closer to the chest and has a lower profile.
  • Implant shape – Implant shapes available with Enhance Medical include round and teardrop.
  • Implant placement – Breast implants can be placed under the muscle (submuscular) or over the muscle (subglandular). They can also be placed partially between both, known as subfascial or dual plane.
  • Implant sizing – Breast implant sizes are measured by their volume, so, for example, a 300cc breast implant contains 300 cubic centimetres of filling, and a 400cc implant has 400 cubic centimetres. At Enhance, we offer implant size 200CC-800CC.
  • Low Profile

    Low Profile Implants

Low profile implants have the widest base diameter and therefore the least projection. They appear flat in comparison to implants with higher profiles and are best suited to women with a broader frame. These type of breast implants often provides a more natural look and results in a boosted cleavage.

  • Moderate Profile

    Moderate Profile Implants

Moderate profile implants are the best compromise between low profile and high profile implants. The medium-sized base allows the breasts to display the perfect balance of volume and cleavage while still remaining relatively natural-looking. This profile is most suitable for women with a medium-sized frame.

  • High Profile

    High Profile Implants

High profile implants provide a fuller and rounder breast compared to low and medium. The narrow base width of the implant makes them perfect for petite women who want to achieve a dramatic increase in breast size.

  • Extra High Profile

    Extra High Profile Implants

Extra high profile implants are very similar to higher profile implants but they have an even narrower base diameter. As a result, they provide the largest projection available. They are the perfect option for anyone looking for significantly fuller and rounder breasts.

Mentor Breast Implants

Our preferred supplier of breast implants is ‘MENTOR®’ (a Johnson and Johnson brand). In our opinion, MENTOR® Implants offer the most natural look and feel, more closely resembling breast tissue. These implants are available in a smooth or textured shell, and your consultant will advise you which to choose, depending on the size and profile you desire. MENTOR® puts excellent care and consideration into every implant they produce, providing a comprehensive protection warranty and comfort guarantee.

RECOVERING FROM BREAST ENLARGEMENT SURGERY

The recovery timeline following breast enlargement surgery varies from person to person, but here’s a general guideline for recovery:

  • The Day of Your Surgery – On day 1, you might feel weak after your surgery, and it’s normal to experience some discomfort. You’ll be given directions on how to care for your breasts to prevent infection and support healing. You can leave the hospital on the day of your surgery.
  • First Week of Recovery – This period typically involves rest and limited movement to help the body begin the healing process. Any pain you experience can be managed with medications prescribed by your surgeon. You may feel sore this week; swelling and bruising are common. You’ll likely need to wear a special surgical bra or bandage 24 hours daily to support and minimise swelling. For the first 7 days post op avoid sneak peaks and removing the bra.
  • Weeks Two to Four of Recovery You may start to feel more like yourself during this time. The soreness and swelling should begin to decrease. However, it’s still important to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting. You should be able to drive again during this period (This will be down to your and your insurance) and only if you can do all manoeuvres.
  • Weeks Four to Six of Recovery – By now, you might be ready to return to a more active routine, including work, depending on your job’s demands. It’s still recommended to avoid rigorous exercise at this stage however walking is beneficial for your recovery.
  • Weeks Six to Eight of Recovery – On average, patients take about twelve weeks to fully recover from their breast augmentation procedure. Many women feel back to normal around this time. Even so, waiting at least six weeks before returning to the gym or engaging in strenuous exercise would be best. We advise six weeks to begin exercising but avoid strenuous or heavy lifting until 12 weeks post-op – If you are a swimmer, you can swim if you are fully healed with no scabs and no open wounds from 6 weeks post-op. You should still wear a support bra throughout the day – this depends on the surgeon as some advise only two weeks in post-op bra.
  • 12 Weeks After Surgery and Beyond – While most major recovery happens in the first two months, your body will continue to heal and adjust to your new implants. It’s important to continue following any remaining aftercare instructions from your surgeon. Consider arranging a surgeon review from this time. You can now begin to exercise and lift again – but if you have any concerns or questions, wait until your review.

It’s important to note that these timelines can vary depending on your overall health, the type of implant used, and the surgical technique. Always follow your surgeon’s specific post-operative instructions for optimal recovery.

  • How Much Does Breast Enlargement Cost?

The amount a breast enlargement costs at Enhance Medical Group starts from just £4,250. As we own independent hospitals we are able to keep prices low in comparison to other cosmetic surgery providers whilst maintaining the high standard expected for any surgical procedure. The price can vary depending on your unique requirements.

  • How Do I Know Which Size Breast Implant To Go For?

So, you’ve decided you want to go ahead with breast enlargement surgery! But how do you decide which size of breast implants you should go for? It’s important that you take several things into consideration, and remember that we’re all different, and therefore our requirements are unique. There’s no right or wrong here, so take the time to consider what is best for you, rather than what someone else may have chosen.

There are many reasons for going ahead with breast implant surgery, so make sure you spend time choosing the right size implants to get the results that suit your particular requirements. Here at Enhance Medical Group we are fortunate to be able to offer the Mentor Volume Sizing system. This unique measuring method involves taking a number of very detailed measurements of the breasts during your consultation. You will then have the opportunity to ‘try on’ different sized implants, which will help you to get a good idea of the end result. This is a great way to avoid going too big or too small, so that you get the best results first time. It’s important to us here at Enhance Medical Group that you are satisfied with the size, shape and volume of your breasts. This system allows you to see how they will appear, and if they look out of proportion during this measuring phase then you have plenty of time to make changes and get the results you really want. It’s also important to take into account things like your lifestyle, what sort of activities you enjoy and your overall comfort following the surgery. Your consultant will also encourage you to take into account your shape and build. What looks great on one body shape may not do justice to someone else’s figure. Our medical team will be on hand to offer advice and point you in the right direction.

  • Will I Need To Take Time Off Work After My Breast Enlargement?

During your preoperative consultations with our team you will be given information that is helpful both before and after your procedure. Your aftercare is just as important to us as the results from your procedure. We take it very seriously, and give you the best advice about how to recover well at home. For this reason, we advise you to factor in recovery time following your procedure. In order to rest fully you will need to take at least seven to ten days off work, and you may find it necessary to arrange for some help at home too. Driving is not advised for the first week either, and you should check with your car insurance company to check whether your insurance is affected due to surgery. Our post op booklet has more information about this, and about re-starting exercise after the procedure. Use this time to allow for a good recovery.

Rest is essential, so don’t be tempted to start catching up on those jobs at home during this time. Obviously the recovery from such a procedure will differ from patient to patient, but the first couple of weeks should be outlined for rest only. Your aftercare appointments are essential. They allow our team to check that you are healing well, and they are also a great opportunity to ask questions.

We have several clinics throughout the UK, so if you are Midlands based and looking for breast enlargement in Birmingham or are based in the south and looking for breast enlargement in London we can help.

Other clinics are dotted around the UK, so find the one nearest to you to make aftercare appointments easier to attend. We expect everything to run smoothly throughout the whole process, but it’s good to know that you’re not far away from one of our clinics should you need some assistance.

  • Do you have any information about post operative care?

We can’t stress enough just how important your safe recovery is to us. We pride ourselves on being with you every step of the way, and we are committed to providing the best care to our patients before, during, and after their chosen procedures. All of your appointments are covered in the overall cost of your procedure, and they are vital as they allow us to carefully monitor your recovery. Rest assured that your aftercare is always in the safe hands of our specialist team of healthcare professionals, so your quality of care is never compromised. There’s also a 24hr emergency contact number and 12 months postoperative aftercare, so you don’t need to worry about getting support when you need it. Your implants are also covered by Mentor, with a 10 year warranty.

To add to that, we have put together a comprehensive guide to advise you and answer any questions, so please do read our downloadable PDF which provides post operation information. In the meantime, however, there are a few things that you can expect, following your procedure. You should take at least 7-10 days off work; you may feel lightheaded or sick for a few days due to the general anaesthetic; pain medication is prescribed to ease any pain or discomfort; be sure to wear the appropriate support garments that you are advised to wear; keep your wounds covered and dry and attend all post-operative appointments as advised.

Please be reassured that our team here at Enhance Medical Group are always happy to meet with you, or speak to you, in order to discuss any questions or concerns you may encounter. We also offer you the opportunity to speak with former patients about their experiences with Enhance, and they will always be completely honest with you about their journey. You can do this by visiting our Instagram page and via Facebook.

  • Where Do The Implants Go – Under Or Over The Muscle?

During your consultations, prior to agreeing on the best treatment for you, our team will discuss the options available. They will offer their opinion on what would be the most suitable course of action. As well as discussing the size of the implants, they will need to determine whether you will achieve the look you prefer by having the implant placed under (submuscular) or over the muscle (subglandular) supporting the breast.

Submuscular Implants positions the implants under the glands and pectoral muscles. Submuscular implants provide a natural appearance and remain well supported in their subpectoral pockets.

Subglandular Implants positions the implants on top of the pectoral muscles in your chest, and under your glands. Subglandular implants settle into position quickly and will not interfere with pectoral muscle movement.

At Enhance Medical Group we offer both options. They provide slightly different looks, and you will be given information and advice to help you decide what is best for you. As every patient is different we make sure to assess your body type and advise you accordingly. Over the muscle implants may be great for one person, but they may not suit someone with a lot of breast tissue, for example. If you do choose to have the implant placed over the muscle, you will find that the result is a pronounced, but still natural, outcome. Larger sized implants can still be used, as the muscle doesn’t have to be stretched over the implant. With placement under the muscle you will find that the feeling of the breast closely mimics that of real breast tissue. This placement doesn’t always suit women who have very strong chest muscles to begin with, but your consultation will cover all of this and you will be able to make an informed choice. Women with smaller frames, or smaller breasts, often benefit from having implants placed under the muscle. By fitting the implants between the smaller and greater pectoral muscles, natural support is provided. Due to the fact that the implant is not set against the breast tissue, a natural result is more likely.

Another consideration you may need to take into account is whether or not you intend to breastfeed, following the procedure. Implants placed below the muscle will have less of an impact on your ability to breastfeed. This is largely due to how and where the incisions are made, as detaching the areola and nipples for the procedure can cause a reduction in milk production. Talk to our Healthcare Professionals about this if you think it may be relevant in the future. Rest assured that we will always suggest the best course of action for you, your lifestyle and any future plans you may have. If you have a few more questions further information on implant position can be found here.

  • Will My Breasts Look and Feel Natural After Breast Enlargement Surgery?

The final look and feel of your breasts, following a breast enlargement, is dependent on a few things. Breast implants look and feel different on everyone, but there are some choices you can take to help determine the likely results before you make your final decision.

Firstly, take a moment to consider your current shape and frame. During your consultation you will be assessed and advised upon the best placement of the implant for your frame. You will also be able to use this as an opportunity to let your consultant know whether you favour the more natural look, or prefer the more obvious implant effect. Larger implants don’t necessarily mean they will look less natural. Teardrop shaped implants are often used to achieve a more natural looking outcome, and the placement of the implant will also determine the overall look. The implants can be placed under or over the muscle, or dual plane (partly behind the pectoralis muscle and partly behind breast tissue), depending on the composition of your natural breasts and the outcome you are hoping for. The implant will move like natural breast tissue, and it will resemble just that too. Finally, the type of implant used goes a long way to determine the overall results. When you are considering which type of implants feel most natural, we believe that Mentor implants do the job better than any other. They have a reputation for being both the safest and most natural looking and feeling implants. Due to the special cohesive gel in the Mentor Memory Gel implants they closely mimic the feel of natural breast tissue, as well as providing a soft, natural look. They are available in all sizes and profiles, in both a smooth and textured surface, so you can be very particular about the implants you choose.

Immediately following your procedure you can expect your breasts to feel heavy, swollen and very pert. But rest assured that after the recovery period, your breasts will settle into the size and profile that you expect. By following the guidance of our team of experts you will be able to make an informed decision, ensuring that you achieve both the look and feel that you prefer.

  • Will My Breasts Be Painful After Surgery?

Here at Enhance Medical Group, we pride ourselves on our aftercare procedures as much as the surgery itself. Rest assured, your journey with Enhance does not end immediately following your operation. During your consultations you will have been advised to take time off work to recover, but you will be able to determine for yourself how long that needs to be. You can expect some pain and discomfort for 2-3 weeks, and you will have been advised how best to deal with this.

You’ve had surgery, don’t forget, so the pain is likely to be particularly noticeable around the areas of incision. It’s also perfectly normal to expect your breasts to look and feel swollen, and the skin to feel tight and stretched.
You may also experience some bloating of the stomach area within the first week. This is largely due to the IV fluids you will have been given during surgery. It can also be caused by some pain medications that you may have been prescribed, following the procedure. Drink plenty of water and try to be mobile during your recovery time (simply walking around the house is sufficient for the first few days). This bloating usually goes away after a couple of weeks.

To ease the pain, following breast surgery, you can take prescribed or over the counter pain relief. However, there are other things that you will be able to do that will speed up the recovery process. Our team will advise you on the most suitable support garments to wear, as it is important to choose a compression bra that fits comfortably. They are also a must if you want to protect your breasts and enable the recovery period to be effective. Post operative support garments are specifically designed to offer maximum support and protection to your breasts, following surgery. You will find all the garments you require in our online shop, so there’s no need to worry about finding the correct support wear. They will hold your breasts firmly in place, allowing them to settle and recover, without the risk of causing damage to the area.

It’s vital that you follow advice from our team here at Enhance Medical, and attend all post operative check ups. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions and get advice, but it’s even more important for the team to ensure that your wounds are healing well, and there are no issues to address.

  • How Long Will My Implants Last Until They Need Replacing?

The team at Enhance Medical understands how things can change. Your body, your lifestyle, or simply wanting to keep up to date with the latest look, can all bring about the decision to change your implants. That’s why it’s so important to us that, when you are considering breast implant surgery, you understand what the future will hold in terms of replacing your implants. If there is ever an issue with the condition, position, shape or size of your implants, you can be sure that replacing them is both safe and effective.

You might be thinking, ‘how do I know when my breast implants need replacing?’ Breast implants were never designed to last a lifetime, but in most cases they will last a good ten years. Our team will have explained this to you prior to going ahead with any procedure, so you can expect to undergo further surgery in the future, to replace your initial implants.

If you have experienced problems, such as rupturing or asymmetry, you will need to have your implants changed sooner, and our team will be able to advise you of the best course of action for your particular situation.

When the time comes to replace your implants, you may be happy to go with the same size and shape as before, and that’s absolutely fine by us. Some women, however, use this as an opportunity to make changes. Some of our clients, after having children or following fluctuations in weight, may feel that they want to change the implants to be more in keeping with their new body shape. Maybe they’ve enjoyed having larger breasts for a while and feel like now is a good time to go a little smaller, to reflect their current lifestyle. As per your initial procedure, you will be given all the help and advice you need, from our expert team, before making a final decision.

  • Can I Speak To Someone Who Has Had Breast Enlargement Surgery?

Whether you’re completely new to the idea of having breast surgery, or you are already well versed on the subject, it’s always useful to be able to speak to someone who has been there, done that. They will be able to address any queries or questions you have about the procedure from start to finish. A good number of our team have opted to have the procedure themselves, so they will definitely be able to speak from experience.

You might be thinking that you’d rather hear from someone who doesn’t work for Enhance Medical, and we understand that completely. Getting an unbiased account of someone else’s breast enlargement journey is the best way to make sure you are getting all the information. You need look no further than our ‘Boob Buddies.’ This is a select group of former Enhance clients, who have been recognised for their support to our patient community. These women have all had breast augmentation surgery, and they are all happy to share their experience with you. Women of all ages, shapes and sizes can give you their very own report of their experience with the Enhance team, and they will proudly display the results for you to see for yourself. They’re also available to answer any questions, however obscure, about their journey, as well as give you advice from a patient’s perspective. You can see more about our Boob Buddies on our Instagram page. You’ll also find details of hundreds of other happy, former Enhance patients on here and on our Facebook support group. Seeing such a wide and varied selection of clients, and their journey’s with Enhance, should answer any remaining questions you have, both before and after your procedure. So you can make sure you are prepared for what’s to come, and you can get support during the recovery period from someone who knows exactly how you are feeling.

  • Is A Breast Enlargement Right For Me?

If you’ve been considering it for years, or it’s a new topic of interest, you will know how important it is to feel confident in your decision to go ahead with breast enlargement. There are, however, a few things that you should consider before taking the plunge.

Ask yourself why you want a breast enlargement. If it’s to please anyone other than yourself, it’s the wrong reason. Similarly, if you’re relying on it to change your life, think again: it’s a cosmetic procedure, and it can’t fix all of your life’s problems.

The ideal candidate for a breast enlargement will typically tick the following boxes:

They will have no serious medical conditions or injuries

Their mental health will also be stable and their expectations will be realistic

They may have breasts that are sagging, lacking in volume or just not in proportion

They will understand the implications of surgery and will have help during the recovery time

They will not be pregnant or breastfeeding

Their weight and BMI will be checked in accordance with Enhance guidelines (see patient booklet for more info)

You should also ask yourself why you are considering the procedure in the first place. For many women, it’s tied in with their self esteem and body confidence issues. Perhaps you’ve always felt that your breasts do not fit with the rest of your body, and an augmentation would help you to gain a more balanced shape. For some, the ideal time to go ahead is after they have finished having children or they’ve lost weight. Restoring volume and fullness to breasts, after these events, can help regain more than just your figure. The breast enlargement procedure is really just an enhancement of your natural breast tissue, making the most of what you already have. Your self esteem can be boosted, and your confidence levels can rise if you feel more at home in your own body. Either restoring your breasts to their former shape and size, or adding volume to achieve better proportions can really make a difference to how you feel inside and out.

Remember, breast enlargement procedures can really add to your self esteem, but they are not a ‘fix all’ solution. Keep your expectations realistic, take time to make your decision, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

  • What Happens During The Consultation?

We believe that first impressions count, which is why we invite our new potential clients to pay us a visit. Initially, you will meet with one of our Patient Care Coordinators at your nearest clinic. This is an opportunity to discuss the procedure and your desired results.  Then we can determine the best way forward for you and your personal circumstances. Our surgeon will take detailed measurements of your breasts, including their size, shape, position of the nipples and width between the breasts to name but a few. Your skin’s elasticity and thickness are also noted, and we will assess the current breast tissue to help put together your surgical plan. A discussion can then be had to establish the best course of action. This involves considering the size, placement (under or over the muscle, or dual plane), shape and type of implant that will achieve the results you are looking for. The projection of the implant is also important, as this affects the overall look of the breasts.

The consultant will explain the procedure to you in detail from start to finish. You will also be made aware of potential risks and complications, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions until you are comfortable with the planned treatment. You may have decided by this point that you are definitely ready to commit to the procedure. • Will There Be Any Scarring After My Breast Enlargement Surgery?

As with any surgical procedure, where an incision is made, some scarring is inevitable. Bear in mind that skin and tissue will have been cut into, so evidence of this will show after it has been closed and dressed. There’s no set formula as to how your scars will look or heal. Everyone is different, with varying skin tones, ages and genetic make ups. Even the amount of sun exposure your skin has experienced can make a difference.

What is common to everyone, however, is that your scars will heal, and become less noticeable over time. Immediately following breast enlargement surgery your scars are likely to be red or pink in colour. They will be slightly raised and will feel tight initially. These are all to be expected, and the raised skin and scarring colour will fade over time. Within around six to twelve months the scarring will fully heal and become much less visible. Due to the nature of the procedure, if the incision has been made under the breasts, then the scars will be much less noticeable anyway.
We understand how important it is for you to feel confident following your breast enlargement, and we do everything we can to ensure your wounds heal as quickly and effectively as possible. You will have been given advice, during your consultation, about wearing the correct support garments to help with the healing process. Specialist bandages can be used to soothe and support the area, and this helps to minimise any pulling, which could slow down the scar healing process. There are also scarring treatments and ointments that can be used after the initial healing period, and these can help to reduce the appearance of your scars.

You will be given plenty of advice, based on your personal circumstances, about the procedure from start to finish. So don’t be afraid to ask questions and make sure you have all the information you need before going ahead.

  • Are Breast Implants Safe?

It’s natural to feel unsure about the safety of having breast implants. You may have heard accounts of things that have gone wrong when someone has undergone the procedure, and it’s normal to have concerns about whether it would be safe to go ahead with it yourself. We take your queries and concerns very seriously here at Enhance Medical, so don’t be afraid to ask any questions to allay your fears.

Immense research has been carried out over the years, to assess the effectiveness and safety of breast implant surgery. This research is ongoing. So much so that implant surgery has never been safer. The products and techniques used during breast enlargement procedures, and the great advances in implant technology means that you will always be getting the very best, most uptodate treatments available.

At Enhance we choose Mentor implants, a Johnson and Johnson brand. They have undergone 10 years of clinical trials to ensure their safety. They have been deemed safe and effective by the FDA and are therefore approved by this governing body. Finally, Mentor implants come with a warranty, giving you peace of mind should there be any issues due to certain, specific complications.

There’s a lot to bear in mind when you’re considering breast implants, and we understand that. That’s why our consultations are such an in depth process. We will assess you and your suitability for having breast implants before we agree to go ahead. Your safety is our priority and we need to make sure that you are fit and healthy enough to undergo this type of procedure. We will use this time to discuss your medical history and your current health condition, to make sure that there are no additional risk factors that we need to be made aware of.

As with any type of surgical procedure, there is always the potential for unexpected occurrences. That’s why it’s so important for us to understand your lifestyle and medical history before we agree upon surgery. There is no known associated risk between breast implants and serious disease, so the safety levels are incredibly high. As with any type of surgical procedure, complications can arise. However, you will be in the hands of some of the most experienced surgeons when you come to Enhance Medical, so you can rest assured that your health and safety remains our primary concern.

  • Why are Enhance Medical prices so competitive?

This is a good question, and one we get asked a lot. Some of our clients can’t understand how we can provide the same procedures as other leading cosmetic clinics, at a much lower price. It’s understandable that this may be of concern, particularly if you are mistaken in thinking that lower prices reflect lower standards. That is certainly not the case here at Enhance Medical.

In the past, cosmetic surgery has been for the rich and famous. In more recent times it has been accepted as just another form of self care . That’s why we believe that these procedures should be available to as many people as possible. We have made accessibility and affordability a priority, without compromising on any of our exacting, high standards. There are cheaper options out there, of course, but at Enhance we truly believe that we have got the formula just right. Great service, modern premises and some of the best surgeons and medical teams available.

The reason we are able to do this is largely down to the fact that we own all of our facilities, so our running costs are significantly reduced. We also have a dedicated team, across all clinics, including nurses, anaesthetists and surgeons, not to mention those behind the scenes, making strategic business decisions that help to keep our prices competitive. We like to pass on our savings to our clients, and that’s one of the reasons they return for follow up procedures.

If you are keen to have cosmetic surgery, but don’t have the funds available, don’t let that stop you. We offer very competitive payment options, through finance houses, that allow you to pay up to £35k over a term of up to 5 years, depending on individual circumstances. This means that you don’t have to wait years to save up for a procedure, you can go ahead with it as soon as you have the finance in place.

  • How Will Getting Pregnant Affect My Breast Implants?

It’s no secret that during and after pregnancy the size and shape of your breasts can fluctuate quite a bit. During pregnancy your hormones will affect the size of your breasts, and afterwards, if you choose to breastfeed, they will be in a constant state of filling and emptying. But what happens if you have already had breast implants fitted. Does being pregnant have any lasting effects on the size and condition of your breasts? The good news is, your breast implants can’t be affected simply by you being pregnant. The breasts that support the implants, on the other hand, can.

After being pregnant, or breastfeeding, your breasts are likely to shrink in size, and the volume and fullness you experienced before can be lost. Some describe this as sagging, and it is often not a welcome change. Whether you have implants or not, this can result in the breasts looking and feeling different from before. The breast tissue that supports the implant may have lost its elasticity and strength, and this can be visibly noticeable, and may no longer reflect how you want your breasts to appear.

Some women choose to wait until after they have finished having children before going ahead with breast implants, in order to combat this problem. For those who had implants before becoming pregnant, there is the option to have them replaced, or to undergo a breast lift, to restore the breasts to their previous position. This is a successful procedure, and one that is very popular amongst women who don’t plan on having anymore children. Many women don’t find that they need to undergo any follow up treatments after being pregnant. Everyone is different, and every woman has their own experience of pregnancy. Not all women will see dramatic changes to their breasts, or any other part of their body, during and after pregnancy. So, it’s important to see how your body reacts first, before making any plans.

  • Can you provide advice on the best place to go ahead with a breast enlargement procedure?

A quick search online will show you that you won’t be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a clinic to carry out your breast enlargements. From one end of the UK to the other there are companies who will be delighted to get your business. So, how do you separate the good from the not so good? How do you decide where to go? There are a few things you should look for before settling on your final decision. Firstly, consider somewhere that is not too far from home. You’ll need to attend pre and post operative consultations, so you don’t want the travelling distance to be too great. Once you’ve settled on the ideal location, you need to look at the credentials of both the clinic and the surgeon who will carry out your operation. Any reputable clinic will only employ surgeons with qualifications approved by the General Medical Council. They will also be expected to have trained in specialist areas before being allowed to practice as a fully qualified cosmetic surgeon. It’s also imperative that you are given plenty of opportunity to meet the team, ask questions and satisfy any queries you may have, before making any decision to go ahead. Enhance Medical are fortunate to have facilities throughout the UK, making these appointments, and recovery time, much easier. Another way to help you make your decision is by checking in with previous clients. You can guarantee that they will always give you their true opinion about any procedure they have had. At Enhance Medical we are so sure of the quality of our work that we have selected some of our former patients (we call them our boob buddies), who have offered help and support to anyone wishing to find out more about the breast enlargement procedures we offer. The help and guidance they have offered to our patient community is unrivalled, and we are proud to recognise them as true ambassadors of Enhance. They will be able to give you all the details about their journey with the clinic, from start to finish. You can also check out our Instagram page and Facebook Patient Support group to hear directly from former patients. There’s no better recommendation than talking to someone who has had the experience first hand, and we encourage you to do just that.

  • Can I Have A Breast Uplift With My Breast Enlargement Surgery?

Breast lift and breast enlargement surgery are two different procedures in their own right. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have both, at the same time, should you so wish. A breast lift procedure will involve moving the nipple and areola to a higher position on the breast. Excess skin and tissue will also need to be removed, and the former ‘sagging’ appearance is dealt with in this way. For many women, this is all it takes for them to achieve the look they are hoping for. Age, weight fluctuation and pregnancy can take its toll on our breasts, and sometimes, they need a bit of help to regain their perky appearance. Breast lifts are a great way to achieve this. Breast enlargement surgery, on the other hand, does exactly what it suggests. It will increase the size of your breasts. Again, many women find that this is the only procedure they need, and it is one of the most popular procedures in the UK. A growing number of women are choosing to combine a breast lift procedure with a breast enlargement. The overall benefit of this is that you get two procedures done in one round of surgery. One of the things that you might wish to consider, if you’re having both procedures together, is reducing the size of the implants. Obviously you have the option to choose whatever size you want, but if you’re combining implants with a breast lift you may not need to go as large as you think, to get the results that you want. The uplift procedure makes the breasts sit higher, and therefore appear fuller, so the implants will not be the only things to increase the appearance of the size of your breasts. The best thing to do is to chat to one of our team to get a better idea of what is required, and possible, to achieve your desired results.

  • How Long Does Breast Enlargement Surgery Take?

If you’re considering going ahead with breast enlargement surgery you need to consider the whole process, from initial consultation to the at home recovery period. Prior to your surgery you will need to attend a pre-operative consultation, where your surgery will be discussed and you will be given advice about recovery times. The operation itself is fairly straightforward. It’s one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery in the UK, and the surgeons and medical team at Enhance have years of experience in this field. Typically, the surgery itself will take around 60-90 minutes to complete. If you are having a more complicated procedure, such as a lift and enlargement combined, this will take longer. Breast enlargement surgery is a day procedure, so you will need to arrange transport home with your chaperone or arrange to stay in a nearby hotel afterwards, as you will not be able to drive yourself. We will only let you leave the clinic if we are sure you have no complications to deal with, and you have sufficiently recovered from the anaesthetic. Pain relief and support garments will be provided and advised upon, to make your recovery as comfortable as possible. There is also help on hand once you have been discharged, so don’t be afraid to contact us if there is anything you need to ask. You can expect your initial recovery to take two to three weeks, during which time you will be advised about working, driving, lifting and exercise. A gradual return to your normal routine allows for the best recovery in the long term, so do make sure to listen to the advice given, and don’t be tempted to do more than you should. It may hinder your recovery and you will feel the effects for longer. So, the surgery itself is a relatively quick process, but the recovery is the bit that requires patience!

  • How Long Will I Have To Stay In Hospital Following My Breast Augmentation?

When you’re planning any type of surgery, you will want to know about the procedure itself, but also what you are likely to experience afterwards. A breast augmentation procedure is a day procedure, so you will leave the hospital the same day. The operation itself is relatively quick and uncomplicated, taking less than 2 hours from start to finish, in most cases. You will have been advised beforehand about overall recovery times, and the need to plan time off work and help at home, for a week or two, after your surgery. As already mentioned, breast augmentation surgery at Enhance is classed as a day procedure, so there should be no need to plan for a night in hospital. Immediately after the procedure you are likely to feel the after effects of the anaesthetic, as well as some pain and discomfort, swelling, tightness and bruising. You will be carefully assessed prior to being discharged, so you can rest assured that we take your recovery as seriously as the surgery itself. You will have been advised to equip yourself with special support garments to protect your breasts and allow them to be supported properly as they settle. You will also be prescribed pain medication. Since Enhance Medical are fortunate enough to have facilities throughout the UK, you are never far away from our help and support, should you need it. Do take your recovery period seriously, as attempting to return to your normal lifestyle too quickly may slow down your recovery process. We understand the desire to get back to normal and show off the results of your surgery, but don’t be tempted to take on too much, too soon. Patience at this stage is vital, if you want a smooth and successful recovery.

  • What Should I Wear Following Breast Enlargement Surgery?

When you consider that you probably wear a bra to support your breasts before going ahead with breast enlargement surgery, how important do you think it is to make sure that they are even more supported following breast surgery? Bear in mind that you will have undergone a surgical procedure and incisions will have been made in the breast area. It is perfectly normal for you to experience bruising, swelling, tightness and pain in the area for some time. The most important recovery time, however, is during the first couple of weeks following your procedure. You will be advised, by our medical team, which type of support garments you need to wear, in order for your surgery wounds to heal safely and effectively. Enhance Medical will provide you with the correct garments for your individual recovery programme. This usually involves wearing a compression bra, which must be worn immediately following surgery. This should NOT be removed, so don’t be tempted to take a look before you are given the go-ahead. A breast band may also be advised, and this should be worn for 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for the first week, and then during the daytime, for the advised amount of time, following that. It’s also really important that you don’t get these garments wet. Your wounds and support garments need to be kept dry to allow for successful healing. We will advise you on how best to shower, in order to avoid getting the site of incision wet. Remember to rest properly and avoid heavy lifting and vigorous movements for around 6 weeks, or until you are advised otherwise. Take a look at our recovery guide, or speak to one of the team if you need more information.

  • Where can I see results of your breast enlargement procedures?

This is one of the most important bits of research you will want to do before making the decision to go ahead with breast enlargement surgery. Whilst our website is full of useful information, there’s no better place to get feedback than directly from our former patients themselves. We found ourselves inundated with fabulous, positive stories from women who had undergone their procedures at Enhance Medical, and it was important for us that new patients got the chance to hear these accounts too. Throughout our social media (Instagram, Facebook) we have a carefully selected group of women, who have been so helpful to our patient community, that we decided to recognise their support by granting them ‘boob buddy’ status. Whilst we are proud to offer great support at our clinics, we feel that the patient to patient support that you get from our boob buddies is unmatched. You can feel safe in the knowledge that you’ll be getting detailed and honest accounts, from someone who knows how you are feeling throughout the process. They are contactable via Instagram, and they are more than happy to help with any queries you may have. If they don’t have the answer you are looking for they can probably direct you to someone in the boob buddy community who can help. There are hundreds of former patients documenting their journeys on both Facebook and Instagram, so check them out to get a good idea of what to expect.
